Lots of people come to us unsure of the process involved in having Granite or Quartz work surfaces fitted, the process is in fact rather simple.

Firstly, we need to know the approximate measurements and layout of your kitchen. When you’re having a new kitchen installed you will usually be provided with a plan of your units, if not, a quick hand-drawn sketch with reasonably accurate measurements will do. If either of these is a problem we can of course visit you on-site or at your home to measure up ourselves.

Secondly, we need to know what Granite or Quartz you are thinking of having - different Stones can vary dramatically in cost. For this we invite you down to our Basildon showroom where we have hundreds of different samples on display and full slabs to view. Once we have a plan of your kitchen and know the Stone(s) you are thinking of having, we can provide you with a free same-day quotation that we will send to you in writing.

Should you wish to proceed with the quotation and place an order, all we need to do is arrange a date that your units will be fitted and we can come round and template your new worktops. We will of course also book the date of installation at the same time, which is usually 5 working days after template. At this point we will take an initial deposit to secure your dates and stone and usually we ask for at least 2-3 weeks notice for us to start this process, but should you need work started sooner please give us a call and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Once your dates are booked in we will have your stone delivered to our Basildon showroom where we invite you to view the exact slab(s) that we will be using for your worktops, we ask that you do this prior to templating so if there is any reason that you would like to change the slab we have enough time to do this without delaying your installation.

When we come to template we don’t simply measure your units, we actually make mock worktops using a 3mm thick corrugated plastic that will be cut and shaped exactly to your specification. It is these templates that our masons will use in our factory to manufacture your new worktops. As a guide, a template for an average sized kitchen will take 1.5 to 2 hours.

We then take your templates, along with the slab(s) of Granite or Quartz that you have personally viewed, over to our factory where are team of masons spend the next 7 days cutting, shaping and polishing your new worktops.

And then finally, we’re back to install your new worktops! The installation process usually lasts half a day, and the majority of the time there is no Stonemasonry work to be done on site so it’s a relatively clean process. Once we’re done our fitters will have a quick chat with you to check that you are happy with the installation, they’ll explain how to use the Care Kit that we provide complimentary for all Granite worktop installations, and then we’ll leave you to enjoy your new kitchen!

It’s all relatively straight-forward, but if you do have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to give us a call or visit us at our Basildon showroom where we’ll be more than happy to spend some time with you and go through any questions you may have.
